If you have a small business, making your travel more affordable can mean a lot. By choosing the right reward credit cards and the right hotel rewards memberships, you can earn points that can be redeemed for airfare and hotel stays, and save money. Our experience showed us that combining Chase Ink Business Preferred with Chase Sapphire Reserve is the one of the best options for business users.

Both Ink and Reserve cards earn flexible points. The points can be used in many ways but the most valuable way is to use them for award travel (and not as a cash back).

  • You can "Combine Points" earned with Ink and Reserve into your Sapphire Reserve account so you can redeem the points for travel at their highest value. When the points are "combined" in the Reserve account, you get 50% more value when you redeem the points for travel through Chase Ultimate Rewards. For example, 80,000 miles are worth $1,200 towards travel when booking directly through Chase.

  • You can transfer Chase points to airlines partners in exchange for miles, or to hotel partners in exchange for hotel points. Keep in mind that airlines miles are more valuable than hotel points and are also harder to get.

Chase Ink Business Preferred has a generous sign up offer of 80,000 initial bonus points, after you spend $5,000 on purchases in the first 3 months after account opening.

  • Earn 3 Points per $1 spent on airfare, hotels, rental car, shipping purchases, Internet, cable and phone services, (on the first $150,000 spent in combined purchases).

  • Earn 1 Point per $1 spent on all other purchases.

  • You get 25% more value when you redeem your Ink points for travel through Chase Ultimate Rewards, but if you combine the Ink points with Reserve points into your Reserve account, you get 50% more value when you redeem travel at Chase Ultimate Rewards.

  • Ink has no foreign transaction fees.

  • Chase Ink Preferred has a $95 annual fee.

Chase Sapphire Reserve offers a generous initial bonus of 50,000 miles, after spending $4,000 in the first 3 months after account opening.

  • Earn 3 Points/$1 spent on airfare, hotels, rental car, and dining.

  • Chase Sapphire Reserve offers Complimentary Priority Pass Select Membership, which give members access to over 1000 participating airport lounges around the world.

  • You can earn more points shopping online using Chase Ultimate Rewards Shopping Portal.

  • Chase Sapphire Reserve has a $450 annual fee, but you can receive a credit of $300 on your account, each year you spend $300 on traveling expenses (such as: airfares, hotels or rental cars).

Another way to earn extra points is when you use your Ink or Reserve card to pay for a hotel. This way you earn 3 points/$1 spent while booking hotel stay and you can also earn hotel reward points OR airlines points (miles), whichever you choose, if you are a member of the hotel rewards program.

When you need it, you can transfer your points at a 1:1 ratio and no transfer fee to Chase Ultimate Reward Travel Partners and Hotel Partners.
